Internet T1:
A T1 local access connection to the Internet that can be configured to carry either 24 digitized data channels or one aggregated concatenated data channel at a rate of 1.544 Megabits Per Second (Mbps) that is connected via a T1 Wan Interface Card (WIC), Channel Service Unit / Data Service Unit (CSU/DSU), and Internet router.

Is it possible to get DIRECTV and watch the programs on more than one telvision sets in my home? Yes! Every television set in your house can have DIRECTV receiver. You and any members of your household can watch different programs on each television set at any time. And you DO NOT have to pay the full monthly subscription fees for every additional receiver. You may choose to receive DIRECTV programming to each television set in your house. The programming for your primary access card in your primary (main) receiver is duplicated to the access cards all of the additional receivers and you will receive the same programming for the additional receivers as you would on your main receiver. All you would pay is the fees for additional receiver. However, if you want to subscribe to High Definition programming (HD TV), you would need to lease High Definition receiver (HD recevier) or (High Definition Digital Video Recorder (HD DVR) to watch the HD channel programming. The fees for HD receiver or HD DVR are different than the standard receivers for non - High Definition programming.









VoIP:
Voice over IP is a digital phone service that allow users to make calls across the public switched telephone network (PSTN) via the Internet. By using a high speed Internet connection and a VoIP phone or analog telephone adapter (ATA), a user receives the same type of phone service as plain old telephone service (POTS) plus many additional features. For example, find me / follow me allow a user to enter all of the phone numbers the user wants to ring when the user's VoIP phone number is called. If you are at home, at the office, or on your mobile phone, all of your phones can be rung in succession or at the same time using VoIP!

MPLS:
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a data network protocol that uses Class of Service (CoS) to prioritize different types of data packets across a shared network to facilitate the convergence of voice, video and data applications.

As business networks face increasing numbers of applications with low latency and high bandwidth demands, MPLS allows network administrators to specify which applications should be prioritizes above others so that data flows across the network is an organized fashion that reflects the relative business importance of various type of data.

MPLS network is particularly important to businesses running applications that require latency such as VoIP, ERP, SAP, etc.




Ethernet Internet:
Ethernet is the most widely-used data network protocol today. Standardized as IEEE 802.3, the Ethernet protocol is used for local area networks (LANs) at the Layer 1 (Physical Layer) and Layer 2 (Data Link Layer) of the OSI networking model. Ethernet can be used to connect twisted copper pair networks and to connect fiber optic cable networks. It also provides a great local access medum to connect LANs to the Internet. Ethernet access to the Internet is quickly becoming the access method of choice were it is available.




DSL (Digital Subscriber Line Service):
Digital Subscriber Line Service (DSL) has become a very popular Internet access service. This is because DSL uses the existing copper pairs that already exist between most customer premise offices and the local phone company central office (CO). A DSL connection is set up between a DSL modem at the customer premise and a DSL access multiplexer, or DSLAM, at the phone company central office. Both voice and data can be run across the same DSL connection by using a filter to separate voice traffic from Internet traffic.

DSL has become a widely-accepted and increasingly reliable method of delivering phone service and providing Internet access that saves end users money because both voice and data are delivered across the same plain old telephone serivce (POTS) line. However, the distance to the local phone company central office where the copper POTS line is connected from the customer premise to the DSLAM will determine the potential speed of the DSL connection.




Wireless Internet Service:
Satellite Wireless Internet is a new way to access the Internet at high speeds from anywhere in the United States. Satellite Wireless Internet is delivered via satellites that orbit the Earth while transmitting and receiving high frequency radio internet data to a small dish located at the customer premise. This two-way satellite radio system is reliable, easy to set up and is mobile. You can move the subscriber satellite dish and re-connect with ease.

 T1 Internet Provider Top 10 List

While Dave Letterman may never read this list on his show, we've created a Top 10 list of California T1 Internet Providers. In our review of service providers we considered reliability, customer support, provisioning and financial stability. In our opinion a top provider of services will have a high rating in each of the categories. Unfortunately some of the providers we found were regional providers and may not be near you but two of them are so good you may just want to move closer to be on their network!

The top company in our survey was Telepacific. The only downside to this company is the fact that they only offer service in California and Las Vegas. Telepacific received top marks in all four or our categories and is what we recommend most to customers in California. The second carrier in our list was USLEC. Like our fist pick USLEC is a regional player offering services in the south and on the eastern seaboard. USLEC was founded and is run by engineers. These people have a passion for getting it right and keeping their customers happy. Number three on our list is New Edge Networks. New Edge is a national player found predominantly in metro areas. New Edge is large enough to be a strong player but still small enough to treat customers like a small company.

Our number four position goes to Netifice, formerly Epoch. Again, a small Tier 1 player but excellent service nationwide. Number five position goes to ACC Business. Available everywhere in the continental US, ACC used the ATT network exclusively and provides a high level of service. Positions six through ten when in the following order: Telarus, Sprint, Xspedius, PNG, and Megapath. When looking for a reliable provider you should be comfortable with any of these. Make sure you speak to your broker about the strengths and weaknesses of each carrier. While our rankings were based evenly on the four criteria mentioned at the beginning of the article you may decide that some criteria are more important to you than others. Good luck in your search.
